B&B Raffaela - province of Catanzaro: The Sila and the National Park

The Sila is a situated highland in the northern zone of the region Calabria. It extends him through the provinces of Cosenza, Crotone and Catanzaro, and it divides him in Sila Greca, Sila Grande and Sila Piccola. How National Park of Calabria protects areas of remarkable environmental interest for 73.695 hectares.

Inhabited at first from the Bruzis, people of shepherds and artisans, after the wars puniche was busy from the Romans, parties above all to the appreciated lumber used for lla construction of ships. Subsequently it was busy from the Byzantines, from the Longobardis and from the Norman ones. These last ones contributed to realize different monastic foundations that gave life to the construction of the abbeys cistercensi. The monasteries were places of study, centers of culture and stimulus for the agricultural rebirth. Today, after the realization of spectacular works of engineering, many agricultural villages have become character installations tourist.
