B&B Raffaela: The Castellas and the coastal towers.

Characteristics are the coastal towers strengthened situated along the shores. In the past centuries, in fact, they developed functions of sighting, defense and offense, with the purpose to prevent and to oppose possible invasions from the sea, a lot of of which were conducted by the Saracens. The construction of the towers followed well precise criterions, in how much you/they had to be able to communicate with those more neighbors, through precise signals bright envoys in action from the sentinels displaced in the parts sommitali, with the purpose to signal possible dangers coming from the sea. Their location, was chosen besides so that to also have the best possible view toward the horizon, so that from the fortification the possible signals of alarm could be launched at the right moment. Currently, the coastal towers fully constitute integrated historical-architectural elements in the coastal landscape.
